With over 75 years of combined experience providing comprehensive wealth management services to individuals and business owners, our management team knows what it takes to succeed. 

Steve James

Managing Partner

Steve James has over 17 years of experience in the financial services field industry. He earned his undergraduate degree from Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona. Steve is a Registered Principal of Cambridge Investment Research and has obtained his Series 7, 24, and 66 registrations.

The cornerstone of Steve’s practice is working with school district, university and small business retirement plans and their participants. Steve believes that the key to a strong financial future is to have a customized, comprehensive financial plan that encompasses not only investment planning, but also tax planning, estate planning, and protection planning. He strongly feels that each component must be planned in conjunction with one another to create a successful retirement road map.

Steve and his wife Amelia, who is also a Registered Representative with Przewlocki James, Inc., reside in Chandler, Arizona with their two children. Steve enjoys skiing, hiking, spending time with his family, and any other outdoor activity.

Melissa Tapken

Compliance Officer

Melissa Tapken is the Chief Compliance Officer at PJ Advisor Group, where she provides compliance support for our Financial Professionals, supervises daily trading activities, and conducts supervisory reviews.

Melissa holds a Bachelor of Art in Business Administration from Wartburg College. Before her career with PJ Advisor Group, Melissa worked for many years at CUNA Mutual Group gaining securities knowledge while working for the broker dealer through servicing advisors and managing an advisor support team. Prior to joining PJ Advisor Group, Melissa worked for Cambridge Investment Research on the Direct Business Team.

In her spare time, Melissa enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling, many outdoor activities, walking, making quilts and intermural sports.

Mercy Martinez

VP of Operations

Mercy Martinez initially studied business at Kellogg Community College, in her home state of Michigan. After moving to Arizona in 2010, she resumed her studies and earned an Associate Degree in Business & Arts from Chandler-Gilbert Community College and continues her education at Arizona State University.

Providing first-class service to our clients is something that Mercy strives for on a daily basis, consistently going above and beyond to process client paperwork and service requests in a thorough and timely manner.

In her free time, Mercy coach’s youth sports and enjoys hiking, running marathons, traveling and spending time with her family.

Julie Gebert

VP of Business Development

Julie has been in the financial services industry for more than 30 years and has held senior management positions in both compliance and practice management over the years. Her passion is to help financial professionals with any challenge they may face operating their independent practice.

Julie has worked at the Cambridge home office, AIG Advisor Group and a Pacific Life broker-dealer, dedicating her career to the independent contractor sector. She is an OSJ Manager Designee and holds FINRA Series 3, 4, 7, 24, 53, 63, 65 & 66 licenses as well as Arizona Life and Health Insurance. Julie served as the Chair for the FSI Compliance Council and served on the Board of Directors during her tenure. She is a Registered Corporate Coach, has earned the AIF designation, served on the NYSE Continuing Education Committee, and has spoken at several national industry conferences.

Julie lives in Scottsdale, AZ with her two dogs, Buddy and Lola. Julie is originally from Madison, WI and is a die-hard Wisconsin Badger and Green Bay Packer fan.

Tammy Bookman

Transition Coordinator

Tammy Bookman is the Transition Specialist at PJ Advisor Group, where she manages the onboarding process for all Financial Professionals new to our OSJ, provides ongoing support to existing branch offices, and assists with special projects.

Tammy holds an Associate of Applied Business and a Certificate of Completion in Business Entrepreneurship. She has 15 years of experience in various financial industry roles, from practice management to corporate training.

In her spare time, Tammy enjoys watching sports, traveling, and reading, as well as spending time outside hiking, camping, and kayaking. She also spends as much time as possible with her two grown children, Hailey, and Jeremy.

Hannah Dabbs Mendoza

Director of Communications

Hannah Dabbs Mendoza is the Marketing/Admin Coordinator at PJ Advisor Group, where she manages the various marketing platforms, coordinates the internship program, and provides support to Financial Professionals and their Admins.

Hannah holds a Bachelor’s in Political Science and a Master’s in Public Administration (MPA) from Arizona State University. Before working in the financial industry, Hannah worked as a Press Assistant in the U.S. House of Representatives. After several years of working in public service, Hannah now works with Financial Professionals to help serve their clients and grow their individual practices.

In her spare time, Hannah enjoys going to the movies, traveling, and trying new foods. Although lately, Hannah and her husband Michael have been enjoying life at home with their new baby, Abigail.

Ginni Weston

Events Coordinator

Ginni joined Przewlocki James in October 2003. She has a 13-year background in Banking and managing her own business for 25 years. She obtained her Series 6 Administrative registration in 2008.

Ginni resides in Tucson with her husband Tom. She enjoys reading, hiking in the desert, and traveling.

Joseph Cooper

Advisor Services Specialist

Joseph Cooper is the Advisor Services Specialist for PJ Advisor Group, where he provides support to Financial Professionals and the PJ Advisor Group team. Joseph is currently a student at Arizona State University. Studying finance on the ASU Presidential Scholarship, he plans to pursue a master’s degree after completing his undergraduate program. He obtained his Series 7 in 2020.

During his college experience, he has worked on marketing projects for the Waste Management Phoenix Open, held various leadership positions in on-campus organizations and coordinated fundraisers for several charities, including raising over 160,000 pounds of food Feeding America in just one week. In his spare time, Joseph enjoys hiking, volunteering, spending time with family and reading.
